Abrasive Wheels

This Abrasive Wheels course is designed to help the individual understand their responsibilities within the workplace and is aimed at persons working with Abrasive Wheels. It is a legal requirement under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 (PUWER) that all staff who use Abrasive Wheels receives Abrasive Wheels training in the safe use of the tools and changing of wheels.

Anyone who is involved in the process of mounting or the using of Abrasive Wheels

Aims and objectives of the course:

The aim of the course is to provide training to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER). By doing this, delegates will be able to work safely while using Abrasive Wheels.

Throughout the course, the following topics will be introduced, explained or demonostrated to the delegates:

Hand Arm Vibration

Safe Use

Inspection of machines

Wheel Selection – Practical

Wheel Mounting – Practical

Dressing an abrasive wheel

Multiple Choice Question Paper

Assessment

Throughout the course there is a constant assessment by the instructor who will ask questions about what he has covered in the course, some may be theoretical and some may be practical. At the end of the course, there is a 30-question, multiple-choice paper to be completed by all delegates. A pass mark of 24/30 is set for all delegates. Once these papers are marked and delegates passed then they will proceed to a 10-minute practical assessment.

Certificate

All delegates that succeed with the course will receive an A4 certificate of attendance that will be valid for 3 years.
