Spill Kit Training

The main objective of this Spill Kit Training course is to ensure that those designated to respond to an incident where a potentially dangerous or environmentally damaging spillage has occurred, know the correct procedure and how to use a site spill kit correctly. This is a very practical course, designed for the hands-on delegate. The course takes delegates through a series of role-play modules where they will be set a series of spill scenarios, relevant to their site conditions and chemical inventory and asked to affect a proactive response.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at members of a designated spill team, spill team leaders, persons likely to be involved in directing the spill team response, or any member of staff who may be asked to use your spill response inventory.

Aims and objectives of the course:

The aim of the course is to provide up-to-date information and legislation on the dangers of why a Spill Kit is required and when, as well as provide practical guidance on how to use a spill kit effectively.

At the end of the course delegates will:

Demonstrate how to use a spill kit
Identify the correct spill kit
Check the contents of a spill kit and when to refill it
Understand the correct reporting procedure and who to notify
Understand the regulations and legislation
Understand when to evacuate the premises

Assessment:

Throughout the course there is a constant assessment by the instructor who will ask questions about what he has covered in the course, some may be theoretical and some may be practical. At the end of the course, there is a 30-question, multiple-choice paper to be completed by all delegates. A pass mark of 72% is set for all delegates. Once these papers are marked and delegates passed then they will proceed to a 15-minute practical assessment.

Certificate:

All delegates that succeed with the course will receive an A4 certificate of attendance this will be valid for 3 years.
